Dangote Group has taken a bold step in transforming Nigeria’s logistics and energy sectors by launching 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for the nationwide distribution of petroleum products from the Dangote Refinery. This initiative, part of a ₦720 billion investment, is set to scale up to 10,000 CNG trucks by the end of November 2025, with the aim of cutting logistics costs, removing middlemen, and saving Nigerians over ₦1.7 trillion annually.
A Cleaner, More Efficient Future
The new CNG trucks are designed to modernize fuel distribution, making it more efficient and environmentally friendly. By using cleaner-burning CNG, Dangote is not only reducing emissions but also lowering the cost of transportation for refined products, which will benefit retail stations, industrial users, and telecom companies across the country. The initiative is expected to create at least 24,000 new jobs and support 42 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Strategic Impact and Expansion
Dangote Group has committed a total of ₦2 trillion to trucks and logistics, with plans to introduce electric vehicles by January 2026 as part of its broader transition blueprint. This move is set to increase direct access to refined products, bridge supply gaps, and position Nigeria as a leader in clean energy logistics in Africa.
